TowNow is a roadside assistance app. You tell it where the car is and where it needs to go, it sends the request to tow operators on the TowNow network, and once one of them takes the job you can see them on your map as they come. It is free to download for Android and iPhone.

    Say where you are

    Open TowNow and type the spot or let your phone place you on the map. Operators near you show up on it.

    Enter the registration so the operator knows exactly what is coming onto the truck.

    Add where the car should go, choose emergency or scheduled, pick the problem and check the price before you confirm.

The price, before you confirm

For a car, the request screen shows the base price and the rate for each kilometre to the drop-off:

€150 base + €2 per km

Nothing is booked until you press confirm, so you can check the figure first. Vans and other vehicles may differ; the app shows the rate for the vehicle you pick.

Paying

Payment goes through the app. The current townow.ie lists Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
